Delta Checks Into Rehab

Ok we have another one....
Best known for her role as Suzanne Sugarbaker in the television series Designing Women, Delta Burke has checked herself into a psychiatric hospital because her medications were not working in the treatment for severe depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and an excessive hoarding disorder.
Hey-does anyone remember that LifeTime movie, Going For Broke, where Delta becomes this compulsive gambler and loses all her family's money? I love that movie!

Bone It Like Beckham

According to in.news.yahoo.com,

"A brand of condoms named after football ace David Beckham has taken the Chinese contraceptive market under its sway.
Although the Beckham contraceptive is not being endorsed by the former England captain himself, its makers claim that the users will score in the bedroom like David does on the pitch.
This brand now sells more than any other brand in the country.
Chinese fans of the LA Galaxy soccer star, however, want the marketing of these condoms banned.
"We do not want Beckham to think the Chinese people are disrespecting him. We love him here," the Sun quoted one as saying.
Beckham's agent Simon Oliveira said: "It's not an official brand."

Colin Farrell - "In Bruges" NYC Screening

Colin was spotted Monday night at the NYC screening of his new movie, In Bruges (never heard of it). Colin's "A" status has seemed to drop quite a bit. He needs to clean himself up and get out there! In Bruges is described as a" twisted tale of two London hit men ordered to take a forced vacation in Bruges, Belgium". The film also stars Ralph Fiennes and Brendan Gleeson. Maybe a rental. I will need to hear more about this film(Colin definitely has a past record for stinkers!)

Madonna Spanks Bad Boy Justin Timberlake

According to PageSix.com,
"Madonna has always made sexually explicit music videos but it’s been a while since one of them has gotten everyone so hot under the collar — this time, all the hubbub is because the Queen of Pop is playing a dominatrix who gets freaky with Justin Timberlake.
According to London’s Mirror, the 49-year-old will be slipping into some skintight latex and cracking a whip in the video for her new single, “4 Minutes to Save the World” where she’ll play a pimp who rescues the planet while spitting out lyrics like, “Come on boy, I'd like to show my addictive control", and "You're mine. Just give it up, can't get control."The highlight of the video will be a nightclub scene that the Mirror claims will show "Madonna challenging JT to a dance-off and it is just magnificent. They get up close and personal in the battle of the gyrating hips, with sweat dripping all over their bodies."

Synopsis:
Seeking a change in her life, Mary Ann Singleton moves to San Francisco, soon finding herself living at 28 Barbary Lane. Her life becomes intertwined with those of her varied neighbors and a myriad of colorful characters.
The novel is a look at San Francisco in the 1970's, exploring "alternative lifestyles" and "underground culture"

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WARNING-SPOILERS BELOW<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Mary Ann Singleton: A prudish 25 y/o naïf from Cleveland, Ohio, who impulsively decides to leave her sheltered life behind her and turn a vacation to San Francisco into a new chapter in her life; wears a mood ring; through Mona, lands a job at Halcyon Communications as an executive secretary to Edgar Halcyon; also through Mona, volunteers at The Bay Area Crisis Switchboard

Anna Madrigal: Landlady of 28 Barbary Lane; 56 y/o; exotically - if not off-puttingly - regal, Anna fosters a maternal relationship with each of her tenants, perhaps most aggressively with Mona Ramsey; in addition to gently nudging Mary Ann out of her shell, she begins an affair with Edgar Halcyon, which is threatened by a dark secret of Anna's that may soon come to light (but not in this book); fond of marijuana and grows it in the garden; grew up at the Blue Moon Lodge (a whorehouse where her mother lived & worked); ran away when she was 16y/o; used to own & run a book store

Jon Fielding:Gynecologist; lean with blond hair and blue eyes; compared to a Greek god by Mona, and Mouse's boyfriend for a short time; While Jon himself is a down-to-earth and loving man, his primary circle of friends is the 'A-Gays,' a group of wealthy, snobbish gay men who are judgemental of most everyone - including Mouse; met Mouse at The Arena skating rink on "Gay" night; becomes fuck buddies with Beauchamp, but quickly breaks off the relationship
Mona Ramsey: Mary Ann's spacey, bohemian neighbor; frizzy red hair; lives right below Mary Ann on the 2nd floor; copywriter for Halcyon Comminications ad agency; helps Mary Ann get a secretarial job working for Mr. Halcyon; restless and a bit depressed, Mona finds herself unemployed after a particularly self-righteous day at the office; opens her apartment to her old, recently-dumped friend Mouse, but moves out herself to rekindle a relationship with D'orothea Wilson; fag-hag to Mouse; at end of book she moves back in with Mouse
D'orothea Wilson: Successful African-American model who comes back to San Francisco to rekindle her love affair with Mona; an image of grace and sophistication; in NYC for the last 5 years modeling; met Mona in NYC at a swimsuit campaign; moved in together in a SoHo loft, but 6 months later Mona moved out to SF, ending the relationship; now living in the same city, D'orothera persuades Mona to move back in with her at her Pacific Heights apartment; soon Mona uncovers D'orothea's secret that she is not black, but is taking pills that darken her skin; apparently she got more modeling jobs as an exotic model

Beauchamp Day: DeDe's narcissistic and philandering husband; handsome with blue eyes and black hair; aside from bitterly sucking up to Edgar(his father-in-law & boss), snidely putting down his wife, Beauchamp also finds the time to carry on extramarital affairs with both Mary Ann and Jon; however could not get it up with Mary Ann (nor his wife) who thought he was impotent
DeDe Halcyon Day: Prominent socialite in San Francisco and the daughter of Edgar Halcyon; in a contemtuous marriage to Beauchamp Day and is frequently admonished for her 'puffy' appearance; aware of her husband's infidelity with Mary Ann, DeDe retreats to an exclusive fitness spa an emerges more confident; her energized reunion with Beauchamp, however, is spoiled when she realized an earlier dalliance with the Chinese grocery boy (Lionel) has left her pregnant; goes to great lengths to conceal the truth, including sleeping with a particularly grimy gossip columnist(High socitey friends include: Binky Gruen, Prue, Splinter & Oona Riley);after missing her period, Binky refers DeDe to Jon Fielding; DeDe decides to keep the baby

George Clooney- Leatherheads Movie Poster (April 2008)

Wow-they have taken some 10 years off Georgie boy. He looks great! The wonders of Photoshop continue to amaze me. Anyway, Leatherheads is a " quick-witted romantic comedy is set against the backdrop of America's nascent pro-football league in 1925. Clooney plays Dodge Connolly, a charming, brash football hero who is determined to guide his team from bar brawls to packed stadiums. But after the players lose their sponsor and the entire league faces certain collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star to join his ragtag ranks. The captain hopes his latest move will help the struggling sport finally capture the country's attention.Welcome to the team Carter Rutherford (Krasinski), America's favorite son. A golden-boy war hero who single-handedly forced multiple German soldiers to surrender in WWI, Carter has dashing good looks and unparalleled speed on the field. This new champ is almost too good to be true, and Lexie Littleton (Zellweger) aims to prove that's the case. A cub journalist playing in the big leagues, Lexie is a spitfire newswoman who suspects there are holes in Carter's war story. But while she digs, the two teammates start to become serious off-field rivals for her fickle affections. As the new game of pro-football becomes less like the freewheeling sport he knew and loved, Dodge must both fight to keep his guys together and to get the girl of his dreams. Finding that love and football have a surprisingly similar playbook, however, he has one maneuver he will save just for the fourth quarter..."

Sounds pretty boring to me! Leatherheads hits theaters April 4th.
